About the book
Fetch and the Not So Fine Art of Making Friends is a beautifully illustrated book for children ages 9-12. Fetch, a young golden retriever, has been asked by her humans to protect their yard from local intruders who are getting into their garbage and eating their flowers and vegetables. A fox named Sneak and a rabbit named Bounce are the main troublemakers. Fetch proposes they form a Truce, where they agree to stop fighting and help each other with common problems. The Truce works well until Fetch leaves on vacation for two weeks. Find out who breaks the Truce while she is away, how Fetch deals with disappointment, and how friendship prevails.
About the author
Ken is a retired entomologist (hint—think insects). Although he has published over 50 scientific journal articles and book chapters, Fetch and the Not So Fine Art of Making Friends is his first children’s book. He is an accomplished baker, a wannabe good golfer, a passionate gardener, and an enthusiastic traveler with a particular fondness for Michigan, Italy, and Ireland. Ken and Fetch are a certified therapy dog team, who spend much of their time providing mental health support and stress relief to university students in the local university’s “Pause for Paws” program.
How SPS Helped
